Mahama Ayariga Calls for Abolition of OSP

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has urged Parliament to abolish the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and instead empower the Attorney-General’s Office as the sole body responsible for investigating and prosecuting corruption cases in Ghana. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, December 4, Mr. Ayariga questioned the rationale behind underfunding the Attorney-General’s Office while allocating significant resources to the OSP, which he claimed has fallen short of public expectations. “Look at the budget—why are we not adequately resourcing the Attorney-General?
