Inspector-General of Police Leads Officers in Deployment of New Armoured Vehicles

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu on Saturday, December 6, 2025, led members of the Police Management Board and other senior officers in a show-of-force exercise involving the Ghana Police Service’s newly acquired armoured vehicles, signalling increased security preparedness for the upcoming Christmas season.

The operation, carried out in parts of Accra, showcased the Service’s enhanced operational capability as officers skillfully navigated the armoured carriers in a coordinated display aimed at deterring criminal activity and boosting public confidence in police visibility during the festive period.

After receiving the vehicles on Thursday, December 4, the IGP encouraged personnel to remain motivated and intensify their efforts in combating crime across the country, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting the Police Service.

President John Dramani Mahama also noted that the 40 armoured vehicles represent the beginning of a broader initiative to strengthen the operational capacity of the Ghana Police Service nationwide.
